    Description

    A seldom encountered 16th century silver Giulio of the Papal States. Issued for Pope Julius II, who sat, 1550-1555. The coin is undated. Deep charcoal toning with a strong portrait of the Pontiff. One crease in flan noted. Such early Giulios are most difficult to obtain. Julius is facing left on the obverse. Reverse depicts Roma seated. Diameter is 25 mm. Cataloged as Ber-992. We will begin at 5.
