Description
I rescued these two horse-related items from an estate sale near Phoenix, Arizona. They belonged to Carol Meyer and were created in the 1950s.The scrapbook contains over 30 pages (plus a front and back page tucked away) with photos, articles, ads, and letters related to horse breeding, showing, buying and selling, etc.
Here is a paragraph about the owner from one of the articles in
The Quarter Horse Journal
:
"Carol (Butch) Meyer of Phoenix is another young lady who is doing her best to promote and develop the best in Quarter horse breeding. She has two really fine mares, Taffy Doll, a Palomino bred to Smoky Joe Waggoner, and miss Star Bird, now in Texas being bred to King's Pistol, world champion cutting horse. Two other horses complete her present string: Cobb by Dusty Benear, is a very promising two-year-old stallion carrying a strong concentration of Peter McCue and Yellow Jacket blood, and Poco Pokey [sic] a four-year-old gelding by Poco Bueno and out of a Waggoner mare which Carol plans on showing extensively in local shows."
Her research paper is titled, "The Breaking of the Two-Year-Old Colt to Saddle," written in 1956. It has 8 pages of reading material plus 2 pages with very nice pencil drawings of saddles and bit parts. She received an A- for her work.
I tried to present enough pages of both items in the photos to give you a representative idea of what is included. However, if you find the material not what you were expecting, I accept returns, but shipping costs in either direction will not be refunded.
Condition: Great content for the horse lover! Typical wear you would see on paper items from the 1950s.
